This post will explain the steps required to successfully install VirtualBox on a Synology NAS running DSM 5.0 – build 4.5.2.8 allowing you to run Virtual Machines (VM’s) from your Synology NAS appliance. I was using my HP Proliant N40L Microserver as a test bench, with Intel chipset and 16GB ram.
Step 1. Download the phpVirtualBox package.
Step 2. Open Package Center
Step 3. Click ‘Manual Install’
Step 4. Click ‘Browse’ and select the .spk package
Step 5. Type a admin password and check the boxes next to ‘Enable Advanced Config’ and ‘Enable startup of VM’s’
Step 6. Modify the default settings for host shutdown if you wish, then click ‘Next’
Step 7. Click ‘Apply’ to finish the installation.
Step 8. Run phpVirtualBox from the DSM Menu, the default username and password is ‘admin’
Hi
Is there likely to be a version for DSM 6?
Thanks

DSM 6.0 isn’t compatible afaik. There is a package available for x86 architecture running DSM versions 5.2, that was the latest compatible version last time i checked.
